Wild Tinderbox debut EP review

Wild Tinderbox is a hard rock band out of Austin Texas that formed two years ago in 2014, within that time the band has worked to put together a five song EP. I was given the ok to giver these southern boys a review and once again I was pleasantly surprised by the music that was sent to me. When Im listening to new bands and their EP's your never sure what your going to get, the biggest nerve racker is wondering if you just agreed to review some half witted band with a piece of crap record. Wild Tinderbox took that worry away from me within the first twenty seconds of the record.

The first song I heard was called "Lava Surfin" aside from this being the opening track on the record the song also caught my attention because of the peculiar title of the song. The song starts out with a quick guitar riff that immediately reminded me of Motorhead with its abrasive and repetitive pattern that worked well with the rest of the tune. The drums played a simple thrash metal pattern that would've made Slayer proud and the vocals had an odd but intriguing sound that kept me interested in the musical elements.

"Battle In The Chopper" was my favourite intro off of the entire album, unlike the other songs on the album it came in with an off beat almost disco intro that I thought was fantastic. I wasn't sure if I was still listening to Wild Tinderbox or if I some how had switched to an Elvis song. It was a great start to the song and completely took me by surprise which in my opinion there's nothing better than when a band throws a curve ball in their record to keep the audience entertained. The groove metal continues throughout the rest of the song with a continuous guitar riff and off beat drum pattern that makes the song almost feel like it could be played in a 1970's club. The song then begins to sing about war and violence which would normally seem odd with such a disco beat but then the breakdown happens and all elements of dance or groove are butchered and what were left with is a great metal riff.

The song "Lost In Space" also had a unique start to it, this song actually reminded me of early rock which only furthered my interest in the band. Each song was so different from one another that it was hard not to keep listening. I dont even know what to compare this track to, the music seems to take on a life of its own with the band making sure that the listener never knows what to expect.

In conclusion Wild Tinderbox is a promising band that has a very bright future and definitely its own original take on the hard rock music genre. I am curious to see where this band goes with their careers.
